Covering a Sofa containing shatnez

If sofa fabric is found to be shatnez, can a person put a cotton or polyester sofa cover over it? In other words, if a kosher cloth cover is put onto the shatnez cloth cushions is it ok to use?

If the Sofa is found to have Shatnez than it would be forbidden to sit on it even if it is covered with a kosher cloth cover.
