Is Puffed Wheat Still Considered One of the Shivat HaMinim?

Question

If I am reciting borei pri ha'adama on puffed wheat, does it have the status of the shiv'at haminim regarding precedence over other vegetables, or even over fruits?

Answer

Thank you for your question.

Since it is still considered dagan (grain), it retains its status as one of the Shivat HaMinim, as brought in the Mishnah Berurah, Siman 211, se’if katan 18:

משנה ברורה על שולחן ערוך אורח חיים הלכות ברכת הפירות סימן ריא
וכן אם פה"א הוא מין שבעה כגון קליות של חטים ותפוח או אחד משבעת המינים יש לו לברך תחלה על החטה שהוא מין שבעה וקודמת בפסוק:

Similarly, if the food over which one recites Borei Pri Ha’adamah is from the seven species, such as roasted kernels of wheat or puffed wheat, or another of the seven species, one should first recite the blessing on the wheat, since it is one of the seven species and it appears earlier in the verse.

And see the Sha’ar HaTziyun there.

Wishing you well.
