Request for Guidance and Tefillah

Question

Dear Rabbi Amram Fried, shlitta,
With great respect, I turn to you with a request for guidance, blessing, and prayer. My name is Konstantin, I am 17 years old, and I am writing on behalf of myself and a group of my close friends. We are now at an important stage in our lives: in the near future, each of us will be leaving for a different country, and a long separation awaits us. We understand that a new and unknown path lies ahead, and therefore we feel both excitement and anxiety. It is very important for us to know what the Torah teaches about such separations, how to preserve inner strength, our connection with one another, and the proper spiritual direction when distance separates people who are close at heart. In addition, some of us are in serious relationships, and the upcoming separation raises many questions. We would like to understand how, according to the Torah and Halacha, one should conduct oneself in such situations and what one should rely on in order to preserve purity of intention and mutual respect. If possible, we would be deeply grateful if you would include us in your prayers, that Hashem protect us on our paths, grant us clarity of mind, strength, and success, and help each of us pass through this period with dignity and benefit. The names for tefillah are: Konstantin, Victoria, Ulyana, Nikita, Gleb, Liza, and Astanbek. Thank you in advance, and may you be blessed with good health and long years, with constant siyata diShmaya. With deep respect, Konstantin.

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for writing!

We pray that you all be blessed in all your endeavors.

As per your question on "how to preserve inner strength, our connection with one another, and the proper spiritual direction when distance separates people who are close at heart"  allow us to recommend that to you meet regularly on the phone/internet to have a study session together. Consider studying the weekly Torah portion, Jewish law, or works of Mussar.
