The HaGomel Blessing After Vision Correction Surgery and After Hernia Surgery

A. After laser vision correction using the PRK method — is one required to recite the HaGomel blessing, and when, considering that there is a recovery process?
B. After laparoscopic hernia surgery — is one required to recite the HaGomel blessing, and when — at what stage after the surgery?

Answer

Shalom and blessings. 

A. There is no need to recite the HaGomel blessing. 

B. If the surgery was performed under general anesthesia, one should recite the HaGomel blessing after fully recovering. 

If it was not performed under general anesthesia, one should not recite the blessing.
