Buying a Bookcase During Bein HaMetzarim
Question
Is it permissible to order a new bookcase during the Three Weeks?
Is this included among the things that it is preferable not to order because one recites the blessing of Shehecheyanu on them?

Answer
Shalom u’vrachah
There is no problem with ordering a bookcase that will arrive after the Ninth of Av.
It is permissible to buy a bookcase for a family, since the blessing recited over it is “Hatov Vehametiv” and not “Shehecheyanu.”
A person who lives alone, who would have to recite “Shehecheyanu” over the bookcase, should not buy it during the days of Bein HaMetzarim.
