Eating Lemon Peel

Question

Is it permissible to eat lemon peel? How should it be cleaned of insects?

Answer

Shalom and blessings.

It may be eaten.

The outside should be rubbed wherever there is something resembling a gray-brown peel; this may be a scale insect.

A scale insect is an insect that covers itself with a kind of “shield” that looks like a thin peel.
