Compensation for Damage with an Equivalent Item
Question
A person who damaged a friend's item, is he required to pay specifically with money, or can he provide an item (similar to the damaged item)?
Answer
It is permissible to give an item in exchange for the damaged item (if it is the same type of item and of the same value), even if the injured party specifically wants money.
