Using a CPAP Device on Shabbat

Question

Is it permitted to use a “CPAP” device on Shabbat?
The device treats sleep apnea by providing a constant flow of positive air pressure.
There are three types:
Without any certification at all — it turns on when the device is placed on the face and turns off when it is removed from the face.
Zomet Institute — it runs statically, but there are digital recordings, snoring recordings, and changes in air intensity through automatic adjustment according to the breathing.
Mishmeret HaShabbat — it runs completely statically.
What is permitted lechatchilah and bediavad, and what is forbidden?

Answer

Shalom u’vracha

Using a regular device is forbidden.

Using a device that operates completely continuously is permitted lechatchilah.

A device that has digital recordings should not be used lechatchilah. However, when there is no option to use a kosher device, it may be used under these conditions: cover the screen on Shabbat, and do not transfer the recording created on Shabbat to the doctor for the purpose of continuing treatment.
